Phillps will demonstrate how some of their apps have enhanced Philips products with digital services and made them into connected devices.

Digitally connected devices and systems: engaging with the customer’s online world.
A revolution does not happen when society adopts new tools, it happens when society adopts new behaviors. This is an impactful truth as we see rapid change toward digital transformation of companies, businesses, human interaction and society in general.
In the present talk, Koen will show how Philips is moving ahead in this digital environment and re-inventing the consumer experience. Koen will discuss ways for doing rapid system prototyping in Hackaton weeks as well as give some examples of future products and services. Obviously, high-tech mobile apps form an integral part of the solution.

“At Philips Innovation Services we work on digitizing the Philips product portfolio. We are building a range of connected products and mobile apps, some of which were announced at IFA 2013. In our daily work, we cover the broad range of early research prototypes to first-of-a-kind products. In this practical talk, I will give insight in some of the technical challenges in building connected products and mobile apps. The focus will be on connectivity and mobile app development. I will discuss the tradeoffs between different connectivity standards, such as wifi and bluetooth, and their impact on mobile app development and the user experience as a whole.”
